Versace is an Italian fashion house founded by Gianni Versace in 1978. Practically immediately after the first store of the brand was opened in Milan the fashion house gained a huge popularity in Italy. Nowadays it is one of the leading fashion houses of the world. Versace designs, markets and distributes luxury clothing, accessories, fragrances, makeup and home interior under the various sub-brands of Versace Group.
Since a tragic death of Gianni Versace in 1997, when he was killed by a serial killer Andrew Cunanan, the fashion house is headed by his sister Donatella Versace.

Versace’s Style Department consist of a number of designers groups and stylists working in teams. Each team designs for a separate fashion line or label. These teams are supervised and guided by Donatella Versace.

There are several lines which make up Versace:

  • Versace Couture
  • Versace Jeans Couture
  • Versace Home Collection
  • Versus
  • Versace Collection.

In addition to clothing and accessories, the company operates a hotel Palazzo Versace which is situated in Gold Coast Resort, Australia.
The main line of the fashion house is considered Versace Couture. It contains high-end, often handmade clothing, jewelry, watches, fragrances, cosmetics, handbags, shoes, and home interiors. It is the only line presented in the runway show during Milan’s fashion week. The cost of couture dresses of this line may achieve $ 15,000. Namely this line is directly headed by Donatella Versace. She designs the majority of the items by herself.
The second luxury line, which is oriented mainly on younger people, is Versace Collection.
Versace Jeans Couture is a casual clothing line, focusing on informal clothing and high-end denim. It is the most affordable Versace line.
Versace’s revenue in 2009 was 272 Euro. Even though this sum seems quite big, it is very insignificant in comparison with the revenues achieved when Gianni Versace was alive.
